On Monday, October 3, 2016, Halton Catholic students enrolled in the Dual Credit Program during the 2015-2016 school year were interviewed and video recorded at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School. The footage was recorded for a promotional vignette, produced by Sheridan College.
The Dual Credit Program is currently offered by local colleges to students in all of our Secondary Schools, and allows students to explore college or apprenticeship training as a post-secondary pathway. Students earn one high school credit toward their electives, in addition to one college credit.
Adrienne Bradley, Dual Credit Monitor and current St. Ignatius of Loyola Secondary Teacher, as well as students from across the Halton Catholic Board were able to share their experiences in the program:
- “The Arts Program specifically was a great opportunity for high school students to go to college and get hands-on experience, learning from the Professors, and working with the equipment they use on the same campus.” – Paolo Di Michele, Grade 12 student.
- “The program is a really good start to the courses we are taking this year because it allowed us to become more comfortable with topics surrounding the subject of biology. There were a lot of hands-on activities and we got to teach each other.” – Daniela Luna, Grade 11 student.
