On Friday, October 3rd, Mr. Dante Costantini, Customer Business Manager of Ferrero Canada Ltd. (manufacturer and distributor of Nutella, Ferrero Rocher and Kinder Chocolates) came to speak to Signora Montanari’s Grade 10 Italian Class about career opportunities that exist within an Italian multi-national corporation, and about his own career progression within Ferrero. He applauded the students for pursing Italian Studies at Holy Trinity and stressed to them the importance of speaking a second language. In his own career, having Italian as a second language has opened many doors for him, even the opportunity of working abroad in Europe at Ferrero’s Headquarters.
On Wednesday, October 29th, Signora Montanari’s Grade 10 Italian Class visited La Dolce Vita Café e Gelateria in downtown Oakville where the students were treated to authentic Italian gelato courtesy of Mr. Christopher Iannuzzi, owner and former Holy Trinity graduate. Mr. Iannuzzi also provided our students a demonstration on how Italian gelato is made. Lunch followed at the Oakville Italian Club with a traditional home cooked meal of pappardelle al sugo and ossobuco, and a game of bocci. The event was co-sponsored for us by Mr. Santo De Arcangelis of High Reach Inc. and Mr. Leonardo Sanci of Oak-land Ford Lincoln. Also present at the event were His Worship, Mayor Rob Burton, and Mr. Angelo Di Ianni, Vice Consul of Italy in Hamilton.
With the vision of promoting and maintaining the Italian language and culture, the Oakville Italian Club has partnered with the Italian Studies Program at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School and offers to each graduating student, that has pursued Italian studies throughout high school, a $500 scholarship.
